The Cincinnati Reds, on the heels of a 3 game sweep over the St. Louis Cardinals, are back in the cat bird's seat in the NL Central. They play a lot of close games, but so far, have been able to get more W's than L's.
In 2010, the Reds won the NL Central behind solid pitching and timely hitting. In 2011, the team hit, but searched all season for consistant pitching. So far in 2012, the team can throw, but hit, not always. Here is the 2012 Reds, by the numbers, in Major League Baseball...
Offense
-20th in runs scored (370)
-20th in BA (.249)
-20th in On Base % (.315)
Bottom 3rd of the league up and down nearly every offensive catagory, pitching is much different
Pitching
-3rd in team ERA (3.33)
-1st in CG (7)
-5th in Quality starts (55...57 leads the majors)
-Tied for 2nd lowest in BB by pitchers (234)
-11th in BA against (.246)
If this club can pull a trade to shore up this line up, the sky is the limit. They can pitch, but they need to hit, consistantly
