A great event in sports is coming to Dayton! The Midwest League All-Star game will be played this season at 5/3rd Field in downtown Dayton! Huge honor for the best franchise in the Midwest league, which I consider to be the Dragons. 3 Dragons were named to the game.
Midwest League President George Spelius announced today that Dayton Dragons pitchers Sean Lucas, Alejandro Chacin, and Ben Klimesh have been added the Eastern Division All-Star roster. Lucas has been added to the team to replaced Dragons pitcher Robert Stephenson, who was placed on the disabled list on Wednesday with a strained hamstring. Chacin and Klimesh replace Bowling Green pitchers Jeff Ames and Taylor Guerrieri.
The 2013 Midwest League All-Star Game will be played at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18.
All three Dragons pitchers added to the All-Star roster have been relievers this season. Lucas leads the Dragons with eight saves, going 2-1 with a 3.68 earned run average in 26 relief appearances. Chacin has pitched in 20 games, going 1-2 with a 2.31 ERA and one save. Klimesh has pitched in 19 games, going 3-0 with a 3.18 ERA and four saves. |

Yesterday, the Ohio State Buckeyes made it 10 verbal commitments for the 2014 class. The newest member is Sean Nuernberger, a Kicker from the Louisville, Kentucky area.
This was a position for recruiting importance with Johnny Townsend of Orlando spurning the Buckeyes on signing day for Florida. As it is, Drew Basil will be handling both kicking and punting duties in 2013.
Welcome aboard! We will get into more detail on the Bucknuts 90, Sundays from 11a - 12:30p on 1410 ESPN Radio! |

It has been since 1984...yea, that long, since a Big 10 team made the College World Series. Of all teams, it was Michigan who pulled it off. This time, it's the Indiana Hoosiers. The Crimson and Cream end a 29 year drought for the Midwest powerhouse that is, the Big 10.
Whether they can bring home a National Championship, remains to be seen. At least they made it, which is what matters most.
Also, congrats to Louisville Cardinals for also making the College World Series. The Cards beat the #2 seed Vanderbilt to get their ticket punched to Omaha! |

One thing we will discuss tonight on DSS is whether the Reds should/will/might re-sign Bronson Arroyo. He wants 3 yrs in the $40 million range...too rich for Reds blood? If you sign him, you certainly have no $ for Choo...you be Walt for a day, what do you do? Let Bronson go, or pay him, at least close to what he wants?
Reds fans love Bronson, but he is my age for crying out loud! He would be great to bring back, but at over $13 million per year on average, that is too much. He has been a great person and player for this franchise, but it may be time to move on from Arroyo.
Still goes down as one of the great trades in Reds' history...Wily Mo Pena for Arroyo AND cash considerations! Funny to think the Sox had to send the Reds money in that exchange.

Yes, you read that headline right...Cueto is out again. Why, no one knows right now. Assume some sort of injury. Hal McCoy brought this possibility up on twitter last night, and here it is the next day. Pedro Villareal will come up from Louisville to go tonight in the finale vs Colorado. Tony Cingrani threw Sunday, and can not go tonight.
What does this mean for Cueto? The Reds team? The rotation? Time will tell. This doesn't look good, and don't believe anything you hear about setting up the rotation for St. Louis. Just hope for the best |
