It’s Miller Time once again!!! The #2 Brad Keselowski won the “STP 400” Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway for his 1st win of 2011 and 2nd win of his career. The Dodge cars looked great all day as #22 Kurt Busch lead most of the laps. The race came down to fuel mileage with many drivers having to pit with less than 20 laps to go. Brad Keselowski, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Denny Hamlin all stretched their mileages to make it to the end.
#88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. finished second followed by #11 Denny Hamlin, #24 Jeff Gordon, #99 Carl Edwards, #17 Matt Kenseth, #48 Jimmie Johnson, #14 Tony Stewart, Pole sitter #22 Kurt Busch, and #16 Greg Biffle. The #99Carl Edwards' point lead is now 40 over second place #48 Jimmie Johnson.
There were 17 lead changes among 9 drivers; 5 cautions for 22 yellow flag laps. The attendance is listed as 80,000.
A Big win for the #31 Justin Allgaier as he wins the “STP 300” at Chicagoland Speedway for his first win of 2011 and the 2nd win of his career. He is the second Nationwide only series driver to win this season. Justin Allgaier passed #60 Carl Edwards for the lead on the backstretch of the final lap when Carl Edwards ran out of gas. Then Justin Allgaier ran out of gas coming off turn 4, but coasted across the finish line for the win. Carl Edwards held on to finish second. The rest of the top 10: #16 Trevor Bayne (Welcome back!), #88 Aric Almirola, #38 Jason Leffler, #32 Reed Sorenson, #09 Kenny Wallace, #18 Kelly Bires, #62 Michael Annett, and #7 Danica Patrick. There were 4 cautions for 18 laps and 21 lead changes among 12 leaders.)
A big hometown win for Bowyer! Clint Bowyer, driving KHI's #2 Bad Boy Buggies Chevrolet, dominated at his home state track to pick up the win for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway. This is his first win in 2011; his third overall. #13 Johnny Sauter finished second and jumps back to the lead in the driver point stands. #30 Todd Bodine was third, #31 James Buescher, fourth. After making a last lap pass on #18-Kyle Busch, rookie #22 Joey Coulter had his best series finish winding up in fifth place. Rounding out the top ten were; #18 Kyle Busch, #62 Brendan Gaughan, #8 Nelson Piquet Jr., #32 Brad Sweet, #5 Travis Kvapil. There were 15 lead changes among 10 drivers, with 7 caution flags for 28 laps.
The Sprint Cup Series is heading to Pocono Raceway to run the tricky triangle for the “Pocono 500” Sunday afternoon at 1pm on TNT’s first broadcast of the race season.
The Nationwide Series returns Saturday June 18th to Michigan International Speedway for the “Alliance Truck Parts 250” at 3:30pm on ABC TV.
The Camping World Truck Series rolls into Texas Motor Speedway Friday night under the lights for the “WinStar World Casino 400k”…air time is 9pm on SPEED.
