Jeff Gordon wins Sprint Cup Race at Atlanta: #24-Jeff Gordon won the “AdvoCare 500” Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway for his 85th career win, 5th at AMS and 3rd of the season.
#48 Johnson finished 2nd followed by #14 Stewart, #22 Kurt Busch, #99 Carl Edwards, #2 Brad Keselowski, #29 Kevin Harvick, #11 Denny Hamlin, #17 Matt Kenseth and #43 A.J. Allmendinger. The pole sitter #4 Kasey Kahne finishing 34th after losing a radiator in the race.
Points leader going in to the race, #18 Kyle Busch finished 23rd and lost the points lead to #48 Jimmie Johnson, who has a 21 points lead over Busch.
There were 39 lead changes among 14 drivers and 9 cautions for 64 yellow flag laps.

Carl Edwards wins the Nationwide Race at Atlanta: #60 Carl Edwards won the “Great Clips 300” at Atlanta Motor Speedway for his 6th win of the season. #18 Kyle Busch finished second, followed by #6 Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., #33 Kevin Harvick, #38 Kasey Kahne, #31 Justin Allgaier, #22 Brad Keselowski, #88 Aric Almirola, #30 Jason Leffler, and #2 Elliott Sadler. There were 6 cautions for 27 laps and 21 lead changes among 8 leaders.
Ron Hornaday wins Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta: Pit strategy was the name of the game for Ron Hornaday and the KHI #33 team, as he took the checkers for the “Good Sam Club 200” just ahead of teammate, #2 Clint Bowyer who finished second. Hornaday sustained front-end damage early in the race, but managed to race his way as high as sixth. The call for an early final pit stop won him the race. The leaders had to come down for a green flag pit stop with 19 remaining, and Ron Hornaday took the lead by more than 15 seconds. There were not enough laps left to catch him. It was Hornaday's second win this season; a record-career 49th series win overall. Another bad night for #13 Johnny Sauter as troubles on the track caused him to finish 22 laps down in 29th place. As a result, #31 James Buescher has taken over the Driver Point Standings lead with 588, 12 points ahead of Johnny Sauter. Rounding out the top ten were; #18 Kyle Busch, #32 Blake Feese, #08 Ryan Newman, #3 Austin Dillon, #88 Matt Crafton, #4 Ricky Carmichael #5 Todd Bodine, #31 James Buescher. There were 7 lead changes among 4 drivers, with 5 cautions for 24 laps.
Next up for the Sprint Cup Series is the final race of the regular season at Richmond International Raceway for the “Wonderful Pistachios 400”. This race is Saturday night under the lights and will set the field for the 2011 Chase. Race time is 7:30pm and is on ABC 22.
The Nationwide Series hits Richmond International Raceway Friday night under the lights for the “Virginia 529 College Savings 250” race time is 7:30pm and is on ESPN2.
