Some early stats may tell some of the story of the early going for the Cincinnati Reds. Dusty Baker loves to tinker with the line up and use his bench. Here are some early win/loss totals for a few position for the Reds so far in 2012.

The Reds are 10-3 when Ryan Hanigan starts at Catcher. That is a great record, regardless of the circumstance. But when you realize that the Reds are just 1-8 when Devin Mesoraco starts behind the plate, it becomes an eye opener. Hanigan has shown tremendous improvement through his career, and this year it is showing. He is handling the pitchers well, which is his most important job. My guess is that he will continue to catch Latos, after Mesoraco beginning the season as Latos' guy.
The other position that is noteworthy is Left field. When Ryan Ludwick starts, the Reds are 9-5...with Chris Heisey in Left, they are 2-6...another significant drop off. I do not believe this difference is dramatic as Catcher, butu it does give you an idea of who needs to play.
