#8 Oakland/LA Raiders: If this Top 10 was done 15 years ago, they would be a Top 3-5 franchise, but recent ineptitude has made them fall. In the 70's and 80's, they were football royalty. The biggest foil of the 70's Steelers, the defiant force the NFL needed. We forget, Al Davis was once the smartest, shrewdest owner in the league, but that soon changed. You can rattle off the stars; Howie Long, Marcus Allen, Gene Upshaw, Ted Hendricks...in all 20 Raiders are in Canton in some capacity. While they were the thorn in the side of many, they were as important as any franchise this league has ever seen.
