Will Cris Carter finally get into the Pro Football HOF?

Cris Carter deserves to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I think it is hard to really argue that statement. He may not get in this year, he may not get in next year, but he deserves to be in the HOF. Look at the catches, TD's, and the fact he redefined the position of "possession receiver"...I see a person worthy of Canton.
The negative response usually includes his lack of a Super Bowl, and the shaky beginning of his career in Philadelphia, marred with drug issues, but the stats and accomplishments tell the story. Carter ended his career with over 1100 catches and 137 TD's, two of the highest totals in NFL history, for both statistics. Maybe there is more to the story?
The NFL idiom has always been, "the farther you are from the ball at the snap, the less you matter, "is that how people feel? There is a backlog of Wide Receivers right now that include HOF locks Tim Brown, Andre Reed, and of course, Cris Carter. That list will soon include the likes of Isaac Bruce, Marvin Harrison, and Terrell Owens...creating even more of a backlog. Is the backlog due to a lack of respect for the position, I don't know...time will only tell.
Carter needs in, but the class will be tough to trim down. Jerome Bettis, Jonathan Ogdan, and Michael Strahan are among the 1st timers added to this year's choices. If he doesn't get in, it will only get more difficult. If the Wide Receiver position matters, make sure one gets in this year. If one does, it should be Carter. If he has to wait another 2-3+ years, com' on man!!!
