Everybody has heard the phrase “You have to spend money to make money” and that phrase definitely sums up one of the most unique and interesting stories to come out of this years World Series.
Houston based businessman and furniture store owner Jim McIngvale (Mattress Mack) has always made headlines for his extravagant million dollar sports bets on his beloved Houston pro and college teams. Most recently, Mattress Mack made headlines for placing a $10 million bet on the Houston Astros winning the World Series. The Astros took care of business over the weekend beating the Phillies in 6 games giving them their second World Series title in franchise history and also giving Matress Mack a nice payout of $75 million – the largest legal payout in sports betting history.

McIngvale (Mattress Mack) appeared on ESPN Radio’s Keyshawn, J-Will, & Max Monday morning to share his reasoning for placing such a high wager on his beloved Astros and his reasoning was pretty simple. Marketing:
We had a promotion if you buy a mattress $3,000 or better and the Astros win the World Series you get your money back. So were going to give back $3,000 or more to over 6,000 customers. – Mattress Mack on ESPN Radio
